The show must go on or at least that is the way Coca Cola feels about the Karachi Eat Food Festival, despite immense backlash from local Twitterati, especially after the positivity rate jumped to at least 35 percent in the city.

Some Twitter users were simply calling for Karachi to do better,

Meanwhile others were convinced that the coronavirus will be the main attraction at the event

Some drew attention to the rapid increase in Covid-19 positivity rates in the city

Some called out the provincial government and wondered how the event was allowed

While others called out local influencers as well as those in their social circles for attending what many are now deeming to be a super spreader event,

While others aren’t convinced that the safety measures taken at the festival are enough, despite organisers checking for vaccination certificates at the gate

Some doctors are encouraging people to stay home

While some are quoting studies, insisting it is time to adjust to the new normal

Whether you attend the Karachi Eat Food Festival or not, one thing is for certain, we are in the middle of a pandemic and we must all individually do our part to ensure we stay safe, not only for us but also those around us. So mask up and stay safe!
