The Chinese video app TikTok has gained so much popularity that it is almost necessary for everyone to have an account on it. And clearly the government of Pakistan does not want to be left out since they have created an official account on the app

The government of Pakistan has asked its citizens to follow its new TikTok account. Abubakar Umar, who has been put in charge of digital media by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif shared the link to the governments official TikTok account yesterday.

The first video that was uploaded on the account is a video of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visiting Balochistan to help the flood victims. The video highlighted the meeting with the flood victims as well as all the measures that the government is taking to help the people affected by the floods.

Pakistani twitter expressed their surprise at the tweet, and questioned who would run the country if the government is busy making TikToks. Even pro-government citizens criticised this move.

The TikTok app was launched internationally in 2016, a year after its launch in China, and is now extremely popular in almost all countries, including Pakistan, especially among the youth.

Given this popularity, it is likely that by the end of 2022, the number of users using TikTok will reach 1.8 billion.
