Pakistanis have taken to Twitter to express sadness and even anger at the New Zealand cricket team decision to postpone the ODI series -- that too on the day the match was about to begin on Friday.

Journalist Owais Tohid shared his disappointment.

Others tried to prevail with sense amid all the upset on Twitter.

Some said they felt robbed of happiness that the series would have brought.

While others took the opportunity to display a sense of humor Pakistani social media excels in.

PCB issued a press release on Friday saying the New Zealand cricket informed them of a security threat which prompted them to postpone the series.

"Pakistan Cricket Board and Pakistan Government made foolproof security arrangements for all visiting teams. We have assured the New Zealand Cricket of the same. The Pakistan Prime Minister spoke personally to the Prime Minister of New Zealand and informed her that we have one of the best intelligence systems in the world and that no security threat of any kind exists for the visiting team," the release said.

New Zealand's decision has been widely criticized by many.

It's also been met with anger.

People outside Pakistan also weighed in to express their support for the sadness their Pakistani friends are feeling.

Some tweets better articulated how many Pakistanis are feeling:
