“Dam!” PM Shehbaz Sharif reacts to naming flyover after Nooh Dastagir

Nooh Dastagir Butt a weightlifter from Pakistan has won the first gold medal for our country at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. He was able to lift an impressive 405kgs while competing in the +109 kg category.

The 24-year-old set a new record of 173kg in the snatch portion of the event after lifting 170kg during his first attempt. In the Clean and Jerk, he lifted 232kg, totalling 405kg to claim gold for Pakistan.

Butt has previously won a bronze medal in the 105+kg class at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Nooh has been receiving praise from Pakistanis all over the world for his amazing performance and for representing our home country on an international level. Some tweets were full of appreciation, while others were funny and sarcastic.

Well-known names like Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and cricketer Wahab Riaz also took to their Twitter accounts to congratulate the athlete.

However, it is was the prime minister’s cheeky response to a Twitter user’s comment that has people laughing and sharing their input.

It initially started off with Shehbaz congratulating Nooh on Twitter.

It then was followed by this humorous response from one of his followers.

To this the prime minister replied

Just this conversation was enough to set the internet on fire. Some people criticised the comment made by the PM saying that the country had enough dams and that money should be put towards promoting sports.

Others asked him to focus on rebuilding the economy first with its worsening conditions instead of wasting money on irrelevant stuff.

Some people just had a way with their words and said absolutely hilarious things in response to the tweet.
